Fumigation And AQIS Inspection Attendance

The Australian Government biosecurity policy is based on the assessment and management of pest and disease risk to human, animal and plant health and the environment. The Department of Agriculture manages the risk associated with imported products in various ways. Biosecurity is part of the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) who manages quarantine controls at the borders to minimize the risk of exotic pests and diseases entering the country. DAFF also provides import and export inspection and certification to help retain Australia’s highly favorable animal, plant and human health status and wide access to overseas export markets. AQIS officers use X-ray machines and sniffer dogs in airports, seaports and mail centres to search for quarantine risk material.
Fumigation is a method of pest control that completely fills an area with gaseous pesticides—or fumigants—to suffocate or poison the pests within. It is utilized for control of pests in buildings (structural fumigation), soil, grain, and produce, and is also used during processing of goods to be imported or exported to prevent transfer of exotic organisms. This method also affects the structure itself, affecting pests that inhabit the physical structure, such as woodborers and drywood termites.
In conjunction with Customs Clearance ANC Global Logistics provides liaison with DAFF to ensure that quarantine requirements are met.
